Possible problems while practicing on the PTE Platform

First of all, we are very sorry for all the inconvenience you have experienced so far. 

We list out all possible problems you may face while practicing on your PTE Practice Platform and how to solve them. 

Let’s get started.

1. Are PTE Practice – TADE Hub questions 100% the same as real test questions? 

The answer is NO! Our practice questions are similar to real test questions (could be 95% but not 100% as questions in the PTE Academic or PTE Core). For instance, if PTE has a question: “Some people believe that companies should take their employee's suggestions into consideration. But some others don’t think it’s a good idea. Discuss both views and share your opinion.” Our question will be like, “Company-level Authorities should or should not take employees’ suggestions or ideas to make any decisions. Discuss both views”.

2. To ensure you receive estimated scores after completing your 2-hour mock test

A few test-takers didn’t receive estimated scores after submitting their Full tests because the system was freezing and there was no sign that it could proceed further. There are some reasons that cause this issue and we have recommendations as well as solutions to tackle it for good. 

  • Provide permissions to access audio on your web browser: Test-takers sometimes forget to do this, so our system cannot evaluate their skills due to lack of data, which leads to the freezing screen. 
  • Set English as the default input language: We all have our mother tongue, so make sure that you use English in the beginning to take the test.
  • Stop all ad-block applications: You need to stop your advertisement-block application or any software apps that may interfere with our system.
  • Take your 2-hour mock test in a quiet place: If there is too much noise, it will definitely affect our recording system, which leads to inaccurate feedback.
  • Update your Operating System regularly because the old ones cause technical issues and work slowly. 

3. The “delete”, “erase”, or “back” button does not work

It rarely happens that test-takers cannot use their delete button; the main reason is because of “application conflict”. Simply put, some applications are not compatible with our Practice Platform. No worries, we have several ways to solve this issue.

  • Set English as the default input language: Test takers come from all parts of the world, so they may accidentally use their mother language as an input. Please change it to English and test again.
  • Turn off all ads prevention applications: Ads prevention applications or some extensions affect Java script, so turn them off for a while when you practice.
  • Close the platform or shut up your computer and turn it on: When you open too many websites or applications that you don’t acknowledge, the best way is to shut up your computer and turn it on.
  • Try to connect with a portable keyboard: If all the above solutions do not work, please try with a new keyboard as your old one is no longer compatible with our system.

4. Read Aloud, or Speaking questions do not show feedback or the waiting time is too long

  • Make sure that you allow the browser (Chrome, Safari, or other browsers) to record audio;
  • Make sure to practice in a quiet place.

If you already apply all solutions but the problem still exists, please make a screen recording and send it to our Support Team at support@tadehub.com for support. 

b. The waiting time is too long

Normally, the longest time to wait if users practice Describe Image or Re-tell Lecture is less than 1.5 minutes. It hinges on users’ laptop or PC version, if their laptops are strong with modern hardware, it could take less than 30 seconds. But if the laptop is running slowly, it could take up to 2 minutes.

If the waiting time is over 2 minutes but users haven’t received feedback. Kindly open a new tab and access your History Feedback page to check if the result is available or not. Usually, even though the progress bar is still loading, the result is already ready on the History Feedback page.

Furthermore, if the issue keeps occurring, kindly follow the below guides:

  • Provide permissions to access audio on your web browser: Sometimes, students forget to do this, so our platform is stuck in getting to the final result.
  • Close the platform or shut down your computer and turn it on: When students open too many websites or applications that you don’t acknowledge, the best way is to shut down your computer and turn it on again.
  • Stop all ad-block applications: You need to stop your advertisement-block application or any software apps that interfere with our platform.
  • Delete all caches: Caches help our laptops run faster as they store and remember data so that future requests for that data can be served faster. However, sometimes, it mistakes with our previous actions and keeps showing the same technical issues.

5. Grammar or spelling mistakes 

The PTE Academic Team at TADE Hub always strives to make the best platform, including minimising Grammar or Spelling mistakes to the lowest. Nonetheless, there will be mistakes sometimes, which is inevitable. Therefore, we have the feature of Question Report where users can report any Grammar or Spelling mistakes while practising which will help us solve the issues faster. 6. The integrated dictionary does not work 

Our dictionary is built with millions of words, but there are still words that we don’t have in our library yet. Therefore, if you double-click a word for meanings and we don’t have it in the library, you will not see it appear. Usually, you will see a word’s meaning in 2-3 seconds if we have it in our library.

7. Something wrong with Vocabulary feedback

Only a few test-takers have faced this issue when they checked Lexical Sophistication in the Vocabulary feedback. If you have also experienced it, kindly follow our recommendations to solve this problem.

  • Stop all extensions or apps: If you are using some extensions or apps to support your study and work, we strongly recommend you stop them all temporarily. Because extensions or apps may affect our technology in identifying your English mistakes. Furthermore, when you take the real test, you will definitely need to close all extensions or apps.
  • Fully open your browser: When test-takers practice on the PTE Practice Platform, they need to open their browsers fully to avoid unwanted issues. 

8. Some words you spoke didn't appear in the description

This applies to Speaking question types including Read Aloud, Repeat Sentence, Answer Short Question, Describe Image, and Retell Lecture. If you see words in the description that you didn't speak, for example, the word "showing" in the image. In this situation, kindly listen to your audio recordings again because it is most likely that you made a HUGE pronunciation mistake that the system was not able to transcribe correctly, far less evaluating your pronunciation.
