Pearson Test of English was initially launched in the world of English proficiency tests back in 2009. Ever since it’s been proving its value and integrity throughout the years until this very moment as a 100% computer-based test.

As with other English proficiency tests like IELTS, TOEFL, or DET, the PTE Academic is NOT easy to deal with. It’s much harder if we aim for a high score. Thus, it’s truly vital to fully prepare before our test days. Our Academic team at TADE Hub already shared the “Five (05) strategic preparation steps to achieve any scores”, we strongly recommend that test-takers read it immediately if they’ve not done it yet. In this article, we will be exploring the top 10 tips to boost your scores when we only have 1 week left, which is an addition to our 05 unique preparation steps.

In case you already read the 05 preparation steps, it’s time to explore these 10 tips to increase your scores to the highest.

1. Practice meditation a week before your test day

We all know how beneficial meditation is to our mental health and building strong self-awareness in addition to improving our concentration. The more you know yourself and your ability, the more likely you will achieve high Pearson Test of English scores. If you practice meditation on a daily basis, it’s very good news. If you haven’t done it yet, let’s start practising for seven days before your test, as it’s super easy to do.

Go watch some guides on YouTube for self-study, we should pick videos at the entry-level if you haven’t done it yet and keep advancing it every day.

2. Sleep earlier the night before your test day

You definitely don’t want to see yourself tired on your test day, so the best way is to take deep and enough sleep the night before (or several nights are much better) to stay completely awake to deal with all challenging PTE question types.

3. Choose the best time during the day

If students intend to take the PTE Academic Online, we need to pick our slot months before we sit for it. Yes, sometimes, there are not too many options left to pick. But if there are, we strongly recommend that test-takers choose a time slot that best fits their biological schedule for the highest score.

4. Inform your family members or housemates

This is the same as tip three, which applies to taking the PTE Academic Online. One of the PTE Academic Online rules is to take the test at a quiet place without anyone disturbing you while you sit for the test. If anyone enters your testing environment, be prepared to have an uncertified result besides losing time and testing fees. On top of that, we will be demotivated (most of us do).

5. Don’t eat too much before taking the test

Eating too much at once can leave you feeling bloated; since it’s super hard to concentrate on anything, especially taking the Pearson Test of English. Consequently, it’s much better to not eat too much if you only have 2-3 hours before your test.

6. Make sure you follow all the rules

Some test-takers complain they have done nothing to get uncertified results. In most cases, we completely believe there are reasons why people don’t have certified certificates, and the PTE Academic team also shares why they cannot certify results for some test-takers via email.

One crucial point you need to know is about integrity. Because the PTE Academic is a 100% computer-based test (not to mention we have the online version that test-takers can take anywhere); thus, they have lots of rules to maintain the integrity of test-takers' English proficiency. Otherwise, famous institutions such as Yale, Columbia, and Stanford wouldn’t accept it. As a result, we will never have this wonderful test to prove our English skills.

7. Always stay positive for the whole week

If you only have one week left to prepare, you should focus more on your mental health as you will probably not improve your English skills in 01-week. Instead, you should make yourself comfortable and positive while learning some last tips for the test.

8. Take several mock Tests before your real test

Before your Pearson Test of English Day, you should take mock Tests several times to make yourself entirely ready for it. There’s no better way to prepare yourself one last time than by taking 2-hour tests because you will know what the real tests look like for the last time.

Our PTE Practice Platform offers lots of 2-hour Full Tests for your preparation; let’s create your free account and experience one right today.

9. Imagine your success

The final step is to boost your confidence. Imaging yourself success is the old but most wonderful method to upgrade your confidence right before the test. It’s an instant magic that most famous speakers use right before their time to shine on stage.

Don’t forget that you have thousands of practice questions and instant feedback to enhance your skills every single day.
