To some test-takers, Writing is much harder than Speaking because they don’t know how to brainstorm ideas and articulate their thoughts properly. English learners should not worry because everything can be trained, and English training is not that hard to be afraid of.
To secure your Pearson Test of English desired scores, we need to level up general English skills and practice all question types. Regarding the Writing skill, in this article, we will be exploring our unique three-step strategy to advance your Writing. If test-takers want to learn strategies to face all PTE Writing question types, let’s take a look at this blog: “Tips and Strategies”.
For now, it’s time to focus on enhancing your general Writing skills.
Step 1: Read and Listen frequently
Why should we read if we want to improve our Writing? Writing is the output while Reading and Listening are the input. We read articles or listen to audio or video content to widen our vocabulary bank and gain more knowledge concerning particular topics. To illustrate, if we read an article about Climate Change and on our PTE test day we face a similar topic, which helps us complete the task much easier because we have knowledge and vocabulary to express our thoughts about climate change.
Regarding reading, it is incomparable in making our theoretical points stronger because we know how essays and theses are made through reading, we know how each point is connected to others. The only thing we need to do is to read thoroughly and pay close attention to what we read so we are able to learn their ways of writing effectively.

It’s understandable why we should practice writing on a daily basis, isn’t it? We already know how to get more input through reading and listening, and if we don’t apply these new phrases, and ideas into practice, it’s daydreaming of using them on our test day. Consequently, make sure to allocate your precious time to practice writing every day. And here are our recommendations to do so.
Chat with your friends: Why don’t we text our friends in English? It’s a win-win deal to not only help you practice writing but also boost your friends’ awareness of words they text, especially new ones. So go find a friend and suggest your idea to start as soon as possible.
Do journaling: We admit it, this is a challenging task, but its benefits are undeniable. First and foremost, journaling builds better self-awareness and stronger mental health to cope with challenges in the time to come. Additionally, it helps us review the whole day so far to appreciate what we should do and learn from our mistakes if any to have a better day tomorrow. In the consideration of writing skills, we practice our articulating skills (learn how to write and connect key points in the whole day) and learn new words as we always face new situations that we don’t have enough vocabulary to describe.
Write about particular topics: This method is the best so far. In effect, it’s much more than practising Writing skills. If English learners practice, make sure to treat it as a task in your certified English Proficiency tests, it could be the IELTS, PTE, DET, TOEFL, or TOEIC because it helps us get familiar with real Writing tasks. More importantly, make sure to set up a specific timer before writing. For instance, if test-takers practice a Write Essay PTE question, we need to set our phone timer for 20 minutes because it’s the time that we have when we take the certified test. Yes, later we can review, check, or write it again as you wish to learn how to BRAINSTORM ideas, ORGANISE thoughts, and EXPRESS our opinions more coherently.
There are millions of practice questions for all types on the PTE Practice Platform, and hundreds of Writing questions in particular that users can practice for months even years without running out of questions because we always add new questions to the library every month. On top of that, after completing a Write Essay question, for example, we evaluate users’ answers based on the same grading elements that Pearson uses to assess test-takers' skills including Content, Form, Vocabulary, Grammar, Coherence, and Linguistic Range.

Step 3: Review your work
When it comes to writing, Reviewing cannot be missed for a correct result. This practice step prepares students to deal with the same matter in their certified tests that we, most of the time, make grammar, spelling, and punctuation mistakes. Therefore, reviewing, little or much, helps us correct accidental faults to get higher scores.
If PTE takers haven't got our Premium accounts, they can utilise external tools to help check grammar, spelling, punctuation, and other criteria related to writing. The tools we recommend are Grammarly or Quillbot, yes you can use their free versions, which is good enough!
